Uses of the Zoladex 3.6mg Injection

For Men: Zoladex primarily treats prostate cancer in men. It reduces the production of testosterone, a hormone that fuels the growth of prostate cancer, helping to manage and slow its progression.

For Women: Zoladex serves multiple purposes in women:

• It treats breast cancer.
• It manages endometriosis, a condition where cells typically found in the womb’s lining grow elsewhere in the body, often near the womb.
• It addresses benign growths in the womb known as uterine fibroids.
• It thins the lining of the womb before surgical procedures.
• As part of infertility treatment, it helps control the release of eggs from the ovaries when combined with other medications.

In women, Zoladex reduces estrogen production, which can effectively treat these conditions.

How Does Zoladex Work?

Zoladex, an injection containing goserelin, suppresses the production of sex hormones, specifically testosterone and estrogen. This suppression proves particularly beneficial in treating breast and prostate cancer.

As a Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone (GnRH) agonist, Zoladex inhibits the secretion of pituitary gonadotropins. This action lowers hormone levels critical to the development and progression of certain cancers.

How Should You Take Zoladex Injection?

A doctor or nurse will administer the Zoladex 3.6mg Injection Implant under the skin of your stomach every four weeks (28 days). It’s crucial to maintain your Zoladex treatment schedule, even if you feel well.

Continue the treatment until your doctor advises you to stop. If you begin treatment with an aromatase inhibitor, start Zoladex at least 6-8 weeks prior and continue it throughout the aromatase inhibitor treatment. This consistent approach ensures the effectiveness of your treatment plan.
