Indications
This medication is used for treating severe bronchospasm (narrowing of the air passages), status asthmatic (condition characterized by one asthma attack followed by another without a break in between), and controlling and preventing symptoms of lung impairment such as wheezing, shortness of breath, and feeling of tightness caused by diseases such as Emphysema, Bronchitis, etc. It can also be used for treating uncomplicated premature labor.
Side Effects
The patients administered with this medicine may experience fine tremors, headache, increased heart rate, sleep disturbances, decreased potassium levels, allergic reactions, narrowed air passages, muscle cramps, lactic acidosis (blood pH disturbances), and irritation at the back of the mouth.
Warnings
Pregnancy
The effects of this medicine in pregnant females are unknown; therefore, please consult your doctor before use.
Lactation
This medicine is not recommended for lactating females.
Alcohol
Please avoid consuming alcohol when taking this medicine.
Precautions
The patients with thyrotoxicosis (abnormal thyroid gland function), diabetes, heart impairment, angina (chest pain), and high blood pressure should use this medicine cautiously. This medicine should not be used alone for treating moderate to severe asthma and monitor plasma potassium levels during therapy.
Contraindications
Please use this medicine with precaution for uncomplicated Premature Labor as it may lead to serious problems such as abortion especially during the first and second trimesters.
