About Nexum 20mg
Nexum 20mg Capsule is used to treat a number of stomach and esophageal disorders like acid reflux and gastric ulcers. Each Capsule of Nexum 20mg contains the active ingredient Esomeprazole which belongs to the group of drugs called Proton Pump Inhibitors which help reduce the amount of acid your stomach produces.
How effective is Nexum 20mg?
Nexum 20mg Capsule is quite effective as it treats disorders associated with excessive acid production in the stomach such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), stomach ulcers infected by bacteria as well as caused by the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and the disorder called Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, characterized by the growth of pancreas and overproduction of stomach acid.
The stomach acid production occurs in several steps. Nexum 20mg works by inhibiting the final step of stomach acid production process by binding at certain sites of the acid-producing cells in the stomach called parietal cells.
