About Ciproxin 500mg
Ciproxin 500mg Tablet is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections caused by gram-negative bacteria. It helps treat a wide range of infections like respiratory and urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, genital and GI infections etc. The main active ingredient is Ciprofloxacin which attacks specific strains of bacteria and stops their growth.
How effective is Ciproxin 500mg?
Ciproxin 500mg Tablet is very effective as it directly attacks the bacterial DNA and blocks any further growth. This helps get rid of all the bacteria causing any of the symptoms. The use of Ciproxin 500mg is indicated in the treatment of various bacterial infections, including pneumonia, chronic otitis media, genital tract infections, intra-abdominal infections and infections of the joints and bones.
What dose should I choose?
In adults, the usual recommended dose is 500-750 mg taken orally once or twice per day. The doctor may recommend dosage according to the type of infection the patient has and its severity.
In children, the recommended dose is very low strength like 10-20mg/kg of body weight taken orally twice per day.
If you skip a dose by any chance, take it as soon as you remember. Skip the already missed dose if it’s almost time for the next one. Do not double the dose.
What are the side-effects and other warnings when taking Ciproxin 500mg?
Patients taking Ciproxin 500mg may experience some of the following symptoms:
- Nausea and headache
- Light-headedness
- Fungal infection of the eye (rare)
- Trouble sleeping
- Diarrhoea
