Cefspan 400mg is an antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections. It contains the active ingredient Cefixime.
How effective is Cefspan 400mg?
Cefspan 400mg belongs to the cephalosporin antibiotic group. It is used for the treatment of a number of bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and urinary tract infections such as cystitis. Cefspan 400mg works by killing the infectious bacteria.
What dose should I choose?
In adults, the recommended dose is 200-400 mg per day in either a single dose or in two divided doses.
In children over the age of 10 years, the recommended dose is 200-400 mg per day which may be given in a single dose or two divided doses. The dose depends upon the severity and type of infection.
Cefspan 400mg is not intended for use in children under the age of 10 years.
Since Cefspan 400mg is antibiotic, the course of treatment must be completed even if you feel better
after a few doses.
What are the side-effects and other warnings when taking Cefspan 400mg?
The common side-effects when taking Cefspan 400mg include:
- Diarrhoea
- Abdominal pain
- Nausea and vomiting
- Oral yeast infection (Candidiasis)
- Fever
- Headache
- Flatulence
Notify your doctor about any prescription/nonprescription drugs you may be taking. If you are allergic to Cefixime, cephalosporin antibiotics or other groups of antibiotics, consult your doctor before taking Cefspan 400mg.
