Amaryl 3mg Tablet is an anti-diabetic medication. It is used in combination with weight reduction, diet changes, and exercise for lowering blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. Each tablet of Amaryl 3mg contains the active ingredient Glimepiride, which is a sulfonylureas drug.
How effective is Amaryl 3mg?
Amaryl 3mg Tablet is a very effective antihyperglycemic drug. It can help treat type 2 diabetes when weight reduction, exercise, or diet changes alone are not enough. It works by stimulating release of the body’s natural insulin from the beta cells of the pancreas, which as a result lowers blood glucose level.
What dose should I choose?
In adults, the recommended dose is 1 Tablet (3 mg) taken orally once a day. The maximum dosage is 2 Tablets (6 mg) in 24 hours. Take the dosage shortly before or during the first meal of the day.
This drug is not recommended for use in children.
If you skip a dose by any chance, take it as soon as you remember. Skip the already missed dose if it’s almost time for the next one. Do not double the dosage.
What are the side-effects and other warnings when taking Amaryl 3mg?
Many individuals taking Amaryl 3mg do not experience any side-effects. Some side-effects may include:
- Mild hypersensitivity reaction
- Hypoglycaemia
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhoea
- Thrombocytopenia
