About Gabix 100mg
Gabix 100mg Capsule is an anticonvulsant and pain-relief medication. It is mainly used to treat neuropathic pain and nerve damage associated with various conditions such as diabetes and multiple sclerosis and for the management for partial seizures. Each capsule of Gabix 100mg contains the active ingredient Pregabalin, which is an anti-epileptic agent that regulates the nerve pathways and helps in controlling seizures.
How effective is Gabix 100mg?
This medication is highly effective in relieving nerve pain caused by diabetes, trigeminal neuralgia, shingles and complex regional pain syndrome. It is also indicated in the management of partial seizures along with other medications or alone. Gabix 100mg Capsule acts on the brain to reduce the electrical activity causing seizures. It also has an analgesic activity which is not clearly understood.
What dose should I choose?
In adults, the usual initial dose is 3 capsules (300 mg) taken orally once on the 1st day. On the 2nd day, the dose is 3 capsules taken orally twice, and on the 3rd day, the dose is 3 capsules taken orally thrice.
In children, the recommended initial dose is 10-15 mg/kg of body weight per day. The doctor can adjust the dose according to patient response and tolerability.
If you skip a dose by any chance, take it as soon as you remember. Skip the already missed dose if it’s almost time for the next one. Do not double the dose.
What are the side-effects and other warnings when taking Gabix 100mg?
Some mild and short-term side effects of Gabix 100mg include:
- Dry mouth
- Constipation or diarrhoea
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Difficulty sleeping
- Decreased sex drive
- Disorientation
- Irritability
- Appetite changes
